Montana has gotten some big concert news over the past 6 months. Missoula's Washington-Grizzly Stadium is going to have at least two major concerts in 2024. Country star Tyler Childers was the first to announce his "Mule Pull 24" show with Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats on Saturday August 24. Shortly after that P!nk announced she was performing at the venue with Sheryl Crow, The Script and Kidcutup, on Wednesday August 28th. Two major shows within one week of each other, that has never happened before.

Rumors More Shows Wil be Coming To Washington-Grizzly Stadium in 2024

So far, these are the only two shows have been announced for this venue in 2024. There are rumors that there may be more shows coming to the stadium in 2024. Until we get confirmation, they are just rumors. There have been some pretty amazing big shows over the years at Washington-Grizzly Stadium, but there haven't been that many, that seems to be changing starting in 2024. There have actually only been 6 major concerts at the stadium. Do you know who the first act was to play Washington-Grizzly Stadium?

Pearl Jam Wasn't the First Concert at the Stadium

If you guessed Pearl Jam, you were wrong. According to Wikipedia.org, the first act to play the stadium was Smokey Robinson, with Rob Quist and Great Northern as the opening act as a fundraiser for the library with only 1,700 people at the show. That show was in May of 1988, 10 years and almost one month later Pearl Jam played the stadium, for the first time, on their Yield Tour in 1998. Here are the concerts that have been held at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

  1. Smokey Robinson with Rob Quist and Great Northern May 21, 1988.
  2. Pearl Jam with Goodness June 20, 1998.
  3. The Rolling Stones with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club October, 4th 2006.
  4. Paul McCartney August 5th 2014.
  5. Pearl Jam August 13, 2018.
  6. Guns N' Roses August 13, 2021.

The One Show I Regret Missing

Of the six concerts that have been held at the stadium, I have attended four of them. I have seen both Pearl Jam shows, the Rolling Stones and Guns N' Roses. I wasn't at the very first show with Smokey Robinson. The one big concert that I regret I missed was Sir Paul McCartney when he came to Montana. I was in Minnesota at the time.
