A cherished Missoula restaurant announced plans for 2024 on its Facebook page over the holidays, and a coffee shop with a central location closed permanently.

When the Catalyst Cafe announced in September of 2023 they would be closing, the news was met with heartbreak from Missoulians and patrons far and wide.

In the time between they shared as much of the business as they could before closing. They sold or gave away much of the business's inventory, like furniture, equipment, and even some holiday decorations, as well as 'Take N Bake' items like "Mac N Cheese" and potato casseroles. They also made recipe calendars that were in high demand.

But among the announcements about sales and giveaways, there was one announcement on December 21, 2023 that made a lot of people excited. The post only had three lines:

"Catalyst2GO
Grab & GO
Coming in April" - Catalyst Cafe and Espresso Facebook page.

Sometimes, a few words and a strategic photo are all that is necessary.

They clarified in the comments that the new venture would be located at 123 E Main Street in the Radio Central Building in downtown Missoula. That building holds special a place in our history. You'll see a sign for KGVO Radio still hanging on the brick on the side of the buildling.

Another Missoula food story you may have missed--a coffee shop close to downtown has closed. My cohost Chris told me he visited a business in the building on the corner of Broadway and Orange Street and noticed that the City Brew Coffee at that location was closed.

A sign on the door says that the location is "permanently closed" and that patrons can still visit their location at 3690 Brooks St.

City Brew Coffee, a coffee chain from Billings, Montana, was named by the Daily Meal as having the best Pumpkin Spice Latte in Montana. While the Broadway location may be closed you can still visit them on Brooks, or at any of their other locations around Montana.
