Popular Downtown Missoula Bar Closing, New Restaurant Already Planned
It's never easy to say goodbye to a place that's been part of Missoula.
The End of an Era: Closure Announcement
Unfortunately, it looks like another downtown favorite is getting ready to close its doors. According to a post on social media, the James Bar will officially close for the final time on July 25.
Before they do, they're inviting everyone to stop in, share a drink, and say goodbye to the bartenders and servers who helped make James Bar what it is.
New Beginnings: Atomic Tacos Takes Over
The good news? The space isn't staying empty for long.
The James Bar also announced that Atomic Tacos, a popular spot from Kalispell, will be taking over the location and transforming it into its own restaurant and bar concept. So while it's the end of one chapter, it's also the beginning of another for downtown Missoula.

Celebrating Memories: A Personal Reflection
On a personal note, this one hits a little differently.
I've got some fond memories of James Bar. As a member of the Celtic Dragon Pipe Band, I've been lucky enough to play there over the years during St. Patrick's Day celebrations. The staff was always awesome, the crowds were great, and it was one of those venues we always looked forward to playing.
So, while I'll miss the James Bar, I'm also excited to see what's next for the space. I wish everyone at the James Bar nothing but the best. The pipe band will look forward to playing next door at Al's & Vic's on St. Patrick's Day.
