Tim Montana Turns Up the Volume on Montana’s EMS Crisis
Tim Montana’s new record, Savage, is out, and he’s living up to the name. The Montana-born artist is known for heavy and gritty anthems, including "Devil You Know" and "Savage." But for the moment, Tim is stepping off the stage this week and into the State Capitol in Helena. To address the issue that the Montana EMS system is broken and that people are being left behind when the seconds count.
Tim Montana got an early morning call at his home in Wise River a few months back. An 18-year-old family friend from Wise River had been shot in the head. He got into his truck, sped to the hospital, and spent an additional four and a half hours watching doctors while waiting for a transfer that never came. Life flight was stuck due to wildfire smoke, and no ambulance was available. The system was falling apart right in front of his eyes.
In a recent interview with Tim, he told us, “I’m just a guitar player, but if you saw what I saw, you’d be screaming too.”
So that is what he is doing. He is using his platform in both the rock world and on social media to make the issue of a failing EMS system heard at our Capitol. This Wednesday, November 5th, Tim is going to Helena to talk at the Children, Families, Health and Human Services Interim Committee about EMS and Liability. He is calling on the state’s EMTs and nurses, and everyone who may have lived the same nightmare, to speak up at the meeting.
In Tim's interview with us, he said, “Pizza delivery drivers make more than some EMTs.” He would like to see some of Montana's tax revenue from cannabis go to fund a stronger EMS system in Montana.
If you want to join Tim, click here for the full agenda for Wednesday's meeting and learn how you can join the meeting via Zoom. Or make the drive to Helena and comment in person in Room 137 at the state capitol building at 4:15 pm Wednesday, 11/5.
