Celebrities can pop up anywhere when it comes to Montana. And we’ve become accustomed to hearing stories about them spending time here in Big Sky Country. But the last couple of days delivered two sightings that definitely caught my attention. One involved Aquaman playing bass, while the other involved Diamond Dave doing a little guitar shopping.

Jason Momoa Visits Montana & Performs with Band

Jason Momoa returned to Montana during Labor Day Weekend. However, unlike many of his previous visits, this time he came with his band called Öof Tatatá. On Saturday, September 5th, the band played at the Armory Music Hall located in Bozeman. Momoa joined long-time friends Mike Hayes (guitarist/vocalist), and Kenny Dale (drums) to play several songs together.

With his documented love of rock/metal music and the fact that Momoa loves to rock-out on stage, it’s somewhat surprising yet fitting that Aquaman was seen playing the electric bass. He's also no stranger to Montana, and his band has performed in Bozeman before.

David Lee Roth Also Seen in Montana

In addition to Jason Momoa being seen in Montana with his band, David Lee Roth was spotted at Music Villa in downtown Bozeman. It appears that Diamond Dave stopped by the store to look at some new guitars and ultimately purchased one.

That's one of those random Montana celebrity encounters I would have loved to stumble into. Just imagine walking into your local music store for a pack of strings, then discovering David Lee Roth is a short distance from you looking at guitars. This is far more exciting than any typical trip I make to a music store.

While Momoa and Roth were both spotted in Bozeman, I happened to be elk hunting near Choteau. Because David Letterman owns a large ranch close to Choteau, I kept an eye out to possibly spot him and his majestic beard. Unfortunately, I didn’t find what I was looking for, including the elk.

I wasn't about to go searching back roads for the guy's house like some kind of creepy stalker. But I would have been excited to just casually bump into him. There are times when you may visit a Town Pump to buy some beef jerky and stumble on someone like David Letterman buying coffee.

Montana Celebrity Sightings Can Be Unpredictable

Montana has become a destination for celebrities looking for adventure. You never know who you may find. Perhaps next weekend I’ll just hang out in Missoula and wait for Dave Grohl to show up at a fishing tackle shop. You never know who you'll meet.
