Late Summer Snow Surprises Montanans Across the State
After weeks of relentless heat and record-breaking temperatures, a small amount of relief is coming. We tend to get fed up with it on or around the first part of the year. Something we always complain about, but then pray for. I'm talking about those fluffy gifts from heaven. Of course, I'm talking about SNOW.
Snow has been reported in many places across Montana
For anyone who has escaped the heat by heading to the mountains, you have experienced a clear difference in temperature as you get higher in elevation. For example, while picking huckleberries this summer, we would leave the valley at a 90-degree temperature and eventually be at 75-degree degrees near the top of the mountain. With a small cold front hitting Montana, temperatures got low enough at higher elevations to start dumping some fluffy white snow.
According to a post from KPAX on their social media page, snow was reported at Logan Pass in Glacier National Park.
Missoula and Bitterroot Valley forecast are calling for warmer temperatures this weekend. With temperatures expected to get up into the mid-80s again by this weekend. Making this short cold snap just a preview of what to expect this Fall. Soon we will be scraping our windshields every morning and scooping a path to the car. For now, let's get back to enjoying what few days of Summer we have left. Soak up all the sunshine you can grab this holiday weekend.
