HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) — Work to improve a boat landing and pave a parking area at popular Lake Como Recreation Area begins Monday.

The Ravalli Republic reports that the boat launch area will be closed for 20 days during the construction work.

The work is part of a three-year project to upgrade infrastructure at the lake using money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

U.S. Forest Service officials in a study three years ago found there were more than 150,000 visits to the area each year.

Darby District Ranger Chuck Oliver says the area has become a four-season destination.

He says the new boat ramp will allow two boats to be launched at the same time, meaning boaters shouldn't have to wait as long to get in the water on busy days.
