A 35-year-old Orofino man still awaiting sentencing for the sexual battery of a 16-year-old girl has since married his victim.

Jeremy A. Simmons appeared before 2nd District Judge John Stegner in Clearwater County Tuesday. The judge ordered that Simmons undergo a psychosexual evaluation before he is sentenced.

According to court records, Simmons was living with the teen in April when police learned the two were having sex. Simmons was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and in September he pleaded guilty to the crime. The same month, the victim asked the court to lift the no-contact order, and Simmons told the judge then that he planned to marry the girl.

Idaho law requires parental consent in order for 16-year-olds to marry.
