Hamilton-Area Rancher Shoots 2 Wolves Near House
A Hamilton-area rancher has shot three wolves on his property over the past five weeks. Julie Schram says her husband, Dave, shot and killed two wolves Monday morning within 300 yards of their house and just a few feet from where a group of goats and sheep were standing. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Warden Joe Jaquith says the shooting appears to be a legitimate case of a rancher defending his livestock. Five weeks earlier, Schram shot a wolf after finding the predator eating a lamb on his ranch northwest of Hamilton. That was also found to be a lawful shooting.
