LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) — A Park County man who allowed a 'war veteran who was looking for work' to stay at his house woke up the next day to find the man was gone, along with his pickup truck.

The Livingston Enterprise reports the man reported the theft Friday morning. The previous night he said a stranger had asked about hotels and places to stay and he told the stranger he could stay at his house.

Undersheriff Scott Hamilton says the 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup was reported stolen, along with a cellphone and gun.

When deputies entered the truck into a national database, they noticed that a Montana Highway Patrol officer had run the license plate after a complaint about a man driving recklessly near Wilsall at 6:40 a.m. Friday.

The truck still hadn't been located Monday.
