"Gold Diggers: Investment Fraud in the Treasure State" is a made-in-Montana documentary about investment fraud cases in Montana. Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen is currently screening this documentary across Montana and explains some of the stories it highlights.

“One of them is a gentleman by the name of Art Heffelfinger and he perpetrated a ponzi scheme in a Montana city which took over $2 million from Montanans,” said Lindeen. “The other is about an invest advisor out of Bozeman who stole money from her clients.”

Lindeen says the documentary exposes important lessons all Montanans should hear.

“The biggest lesson is about making sure people understand how to spot red flags and make sure they don’t find themselves victim of financial fraud,” Lindeen said. “We really talk about some simple things you can do, but the most simple is that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.”
