Go Blue on April Fools! April 1st Marks Child Abuse Prevention Month
April 1st marks Child Abuse Prevention month and in support, the city will be blanketed with blue pinwheels. Gina Hegg with the Parenting Place said Go Blue Missoula will create an awareness of child abuse in the state.
"What you're going to see around town are these pinwheels that are blue in color from a larger group nationwide," Hegg said. "The pinwheels are representative of the community taking part in a positive, fun, preventative way."
Hegg said Mayor Jon Engen will be joining in Go Blue Missoula on Friday.
"We're going to have some speakers that get up and will tell us a little bit about what's happening now, where you can get educated, what you can get educated on, become aware, and then how you take action to get to the next level and answer why we should care," Hegg said. "Hopefully when people leave, they're going to understand the importance of why they need to engage and where they can be helpful in their own space."
Hegg said Liquid Planet will have a “Blue Missou” latte on special for the day. Hegg said every time someone buys a latte, the store will contribute a dollar to the prevention cause at Parenting Place.
