"In honor of Father's Day weekend, we hope that you'll get out with your dad or grandpa, but it doesn't matter who you're with, because this is just a great opportunity to get out on the water and fish for free this Saturday and Sunday," Crowser said. "

Crowser said no license is required, but all other fishing rules and regulations must be observed.

"You can fish for free anywhere in Montana, on June 15th and 16th, as long as you are following all other regulations," Crowser said. "Lakes, rivers, streams, wherever, get out and enjoy it, and there's no need for a license."

Officials with the Salish and Kootenai Tribes said on Wednesday that there will be no free fishing on the Flathead reservation this weekend.
