All this week, the KGVO Montana Morning show has been presenting comments from a recent Talk Back program from Missoula County Elections Administrator Bradley Seaman.

Today, Seaman addresses those who have always used a traditional polling place to vote as the November all mail general election approaches.

“This is for voters who are normally a polling place voter, so if you normally go to a polling place on Election Day, we're going to send you a mailer,” said Seaman. “It should be going out in the mail at the end of this week, and it's a signature update for you so that you can make sure that you've updated your address and that the ballots will go to the right address. You can use that to make sure your mailing address is updated and correct because mail ballots are not forwardable.”

Signatures are important in a mail in election, and Seaman acknowledged that signatures can change over the years.

It's a signature update for you so that you can make sure that you've updated your address and that the ballots will go to the right address. You can use that to make sure your mailing address is updated and correct because mail ballots are not forwardable.

“Most importantly, we want to get an updated signature,” he said. “So even if all your information is the same, you can use that form just to update your signature. When we mail them out next week, its postage paid to come back directly to the elections office, and we're going to make sure that we do everything we can to help voters be successful in this election before Election Day comes.”

Seaman emphasized the fact that voters should send the mailer back as soon as possible with an updated signature so the ballot won’t be rejected.

“If for some reason your signature did not verify, we'd notify you in the most expedient method possible,” he said. “So we're going to send you a letter. If you've got a phone number on file, we're going to give you a call and if you have an email address, we're going to email you that letter.”

The ballots for the November 3 General Election will be mailed on October 9.

KGVO plans to have Seaman on Talk Back again after the ballots are mailed.
