Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 12, 2023, Missoula Police Department Officers were notified by the U.S. Marshalls that a male had a $40,000 active warrant and was just observed entering a blue SUV in the City of Missoula. An officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which did not have a license plate. The male was taken into custody by the Marshals.

The driver was identified as 38-year-old Kasey Hugs and the vehicle was registered to her. Officers observed another passenger who was identified as 29-year-old Aubrey Goetz. Goetz and Hugs were both on probation and Missoula Probation and Parole was called to assist. A probation officer arrived and wanted to do a probation search on the vehicle.

During a probation search of Goetz’s person, the probation officer found a bag of white crystallized substance and a glass pipe with residue in it. Goetz said the items came from her bag and were a pipe and meth. Goetz claimed that she was not aware of the items, and someone must have put them in her bag, but that she would take the blame.

According to court documents, the substance was later tested and was presumptive positive for Meth on a TruNarc device. The probation officer also found a jacket behind the driver’s seat that contained Hugs’ credit card, along with a scale, $800 in cash, white crystallized substances consistent with methamphetamine, and a jar of blue pills marked M30, consistent with fentanyl.

The search stopped at this point, and the vehicle was secured for follow-up. Later, an officer weighed the meth at 36.5 grams and counted the suspected fentanyl pills at 421.5 pills. According to the officer, this amount of pills is believed to exceed the personal use quantity.

Goetz and Hugs were both arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. Hugs is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and felony criminal possession with intent to distribute. Goetz is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
