Fantastic Victory for Broncs – On to Championship Game
The Hamilton Broncs will play Laurel Locomotives in the Montana Class A Championship football game next weekend. The Broncs defeated Fergus Golden Eagles by a 28-7 score in a game Saturday at the Hamilton field.
The semi-final game was a defensive battle in the first half with only one touchtown - that was by Hamilton quarterback Tyson Rostad on a keeper in the first quarter. Tyler Jones kicked the extra point. That score stayed the same through the rest of the first quarter and the entire second quarter - with great defensive plays on both teams - including two interceptions by the Broncs and a fumble recovery by Lewistown. Hamilton led at the half 7 to 0.
Hamilton scored two more times in the 3rd quarter. The first was a Rostad pass to Liam O'Connell with a Jones PAT, and another Rostad pass to Eli Taylor, with Jones completing the extra point kick. Then, Fergus quarterback Chance Fields ran in for Lewistown's only touchdown. Keiran Netburn kicked the PAT. Hamilton led 21-7 after three quarters.
With less than two minutes left in the game, Rostad got the ball to Tim Zohner who crossed the line for the final score of the game. And Jones kicked the PAT. Final score was Hamilton Broncs 28 Fergus Golden Eagles 7.
