UPDATE – Young Girl Injured In Early Morning Incident In Miller Creek Area
UPDATE 12:00 noon Monday, October 3.
Missoula police are investigating what appears to be a possible burglary in the 4800 block of Scott Allen Drive in Upper Miller Creek that occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday.
Public Information Officer Travis Welsh said a young girl was alone in the home when the alleged incident occurred..
"At about 3:30 this morning, officers responded to what was apparently an intruder inside a residence on Scott Allen Drive," Welsh said. "When officers arrived at the scene, they were able to make entry into the residence and found a young girl alone in the house. The house appeared to be secured, except for a displaced screen over a window."
Welsh said the young girl had suffered some minor injuries.
"The girl had suffered some minor puncture wounds to one of her upper legs, and was transported to a local hospital for some initial treatment before she was released to her family," he said. "The only description we have of the suspect is that he was a male all dressed in black."
A car that was observed leaving the area at the time of the initial response has since been located and excluded as being associated with a suspect.
Investigators have been working intently on the case and believe that at this time, the complaint does not represent a threat to the public.
Following the initial report, police had staged a response at the Miller Creek Road roundabout, and had a patrol vehicle equipped with stop sticks at Wal Mart at Brooks and Miller Creek Road, in case the suspect vehicle attempted to escape.
