The Missoula County Commissioners approved remaining bid items for Phase 2 construction at Fort Missoula Regional Park. City of Missoula Parks and Trails Design Development Manager Neil Miner explains.

“We awarded one bid item to do the demolition of the existing park early and these were the remaining about 27 bid items equaling about fifteen and a half million dollars,” said Miner. “27 of the 28 total bid items were awarded to local contractors and firms with the reaming two being Montana companies out of Great Falls and Bozeman.”

Miner says Phase 2 of the park will consist of many different facilities.

“The bid award had seven softball fields, five of those were lit, and an accessible playground similar to the new playground at McCormick Park,” Miner said. “It also had some shelters, restrooms, a concession building, a maintenance facility, a dog park, a teen pod, and croquet, horse shoe, and bocce ball area as well.”

Phase 2 construction began this fall and is scheduled to open in 2018. Phase 1 construction is nearly complete and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017.
