A handwritten note that included a bomb threat targeting several schools was found at an elementary school in Great Falls, prompting Great Falls Public Schools to close all of its schools on Monday. Christian schools in Great Falls, along with the University of Providence, are closed as a precaution. The closures affect more than 11,500 students.

According to the Great Falls Tribune, the Great Falls Police Department issued a news release stating, "We realize this is an inconvenience for your family, but the safety of your children is of paramount importance."

Officers say the public can expect to see an increased police presence at schools throughout the day, and residents are asked to stay away from the schools as much as possible. The Head Start program is also closed and after-school activities have been canceled. Great Falls College remains open.
