The coal industry says the state of Wyoming has earned just over $2 billion on federal coal lease sales over the last 20 years. High Winds, Avalanche Danger Mark Montana Weather
Strong winds downed trees and power lines across the state while recent snowfall combined with the wind led to an avalanche warning for west-central Montana. The National Weather Service says a 119 mph wind gust was recorded at 4 a.m. Thursday by a wind gauge on the top of the visitor center at Logan Pass in Glacier National Park.

Man pleads Guilty To Double Killing In Kalispell
A 35-year-old man has acknowledged killing his ex-girlfriend and her 15-year-old daughter just east of Kalispell on Christmas Day 2010. Tyler Michael Miller pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of deliberate homicide stemming from the shooting deaths of 35-year-old Jaimi Lynn Hurlbert and her 15-year-old daughter, Alyssa Burkett. The plea follows Judge Stewart Stadler's ruling earlier this month that Miller was mentally competent to stand trial.

A 39-year-old man accused of a stabbing a man outside a Gallatin Gateway bar has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault.Mark Paul Logan appeared Wednesday at a hearing in Gallatin County District Court, where Judge John Brown left Logan's bail at $100,000.
Washington Man Sought In Montana Beating Death Surrenders
A Washington state man sought on a nationwide warrant in a June beating death in Missoula, Montana has turned himself in to authorities in Tacoma. The sheriff's office says 39-year-old David Sekou Hylton of Tacoma surrendered Tuesday night at the Pierce County Jail in Washington state. He's been sought for investigation of deliberate homicide in the death of 41-year-old Angelo Lorenzo Fuentes of Spokane, Wash.
