Couple Survives Plane Crash Near West Glacier
Flathead County officials say two people escaped serious injury when a small airplane crashed shortly after takeoff from an airstrip at West Glacier.
The sheriff's department reports the plane was having engine trouble right after liftoff and the pilot was not able to turn around and land at the airstrip. The plane's engine sputtered and powered off as the plane came down at about 10 a.m. Sunday.

Montana authorities say they have recovered the body of a 68-year-old Yakima, Wash., woman who went missing in May after her boat capsized on the Smith River.
The Meagher County Sheriff's Office says the body of Mary Patricia Plochowietz was recovered Saturday from a remote section of the river.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says about 70 staffers will work with state and local officials to survey flood damage in Montana.
Agency spokesman Ricardo Zuniga says state and local governments are expected to submit more than 500 projects for reimbursements, including road and bridge repairs, culvert replacements and similar work.

Man Missing After Raft Overturns on Big Hole River
Madison County officials say a man is missing after his raft overturned on the Big Hole River.
The raft overturned near the Big Hole Ranch between Melrose and Browne's Bridge. Two men were thrown into the water at 11:15 a.m. Thursday and one made it safely to shore. The missing man is believed to have been wearing a life jacket.
