Early Thursday morning, Missoula city fire crews battled a blaze in a parking structure on 34th street. Now, arson is suspected as the cause.

Assistant Missoula Fire Chief Jeff Brandt says some type of accelerant was found at the scene, there were footsteps in the snow leading away from the structure, and that witnesses reported that they saw individuals running away from the fire scene.

Brandt says detectives from the Missoula city police department are on the scene searching for evidence and questioning witnesses. Their investigation is ongoing.

Brandt says the dollar amount of damage to the structure at the Wildflower apartments is as yet undetermined.
