Aggressive Driving Incident Rattles Residents in Missoula
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 26, 2025, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to a reported disturbance on South 7th Street West. A male operating a pickup had threatened to run over an individual. The license plate inquiry came back on a white Ford F-150 registered to 64-year-old William Evans.
An officer spoke to the initial complainant, John Doe, on the phone. Doe said he was standing outside his residence when the truck pulled up to the four-way stop at Kemp Street and South 6th Street. Doe said the driver began yelling at him, backed up from the intersection, and then accelerated his truck towards him.
An officer observed the truck heading south on Kemp Street before it pulled over. Evans exited his truck and walked towards the officer. Evans admitted he was engaged in a confrontation with a male standing in his yard. Evans said he “backed out” and “spun out of there” after engaging with Doe. Evans said Doe called him a “zero,” so he “turned around and got in front of him”.

Witnesses Explain What Happened
Officers spoke to several witnesses on the scene regarding this incident. They said Evans began yelling and screaming at a vehicle in front of him, driven by a female. They said Evans accosted the female driver, scaring the female and a younger child in the vehicle. Evans then backed up his truck, skidded his tires, and nearly struck parked vehicles in the alley. They described the incident as “very scary” and said Evans’s driving was “unbelievably” reckless.
Doe advised that he was in the yard next to his house when he heard a male yelling loudly and heard a vehicle engine revving. Doe yelled at Evans to “roll on” and motioned that Evans should leave the area. Evans then put his truck in reverse, “peeled out”, and came straight towards Doe at a high rate of speed. Doe said he thought Evans was going to hit him with the truck. Doe said the truck got within one foot of striking him.
After nearly hitting Doe, the truck then tore through Doe’s lawn and headed south on Kemp Street. Doe estimated the truck was traveling 50 to 60 miles per hour through the neighborhood. Doe believed the driver was going to try and hit him again, but an officer intervened at that point. Doe said that it crossed his mind that he was going to be hit and killed. Doe said he contemplated drawing his concealed firearm and shooting at Evans.
