$22,000 in Restitution Ordered in Bridge Jump Injury

A Missoula man who was found guilty of negligent endangerment for failing to look upstream before he jumped off a bridge and landed on a man floating down the Clark Fork River has been ordered to pay more than $22,000 in restitution.

The Missoulian reports Justice of the Peace Amy Blixt on Thursday ordered 21-year-old Corey Hewitt to make $100 monthly payments to Andy Hill, who suffered broken legs and other injuries when Hewitt landed on him as he floated on an inner tube last July.

Hill testified he has difficulties working because he can't sit or stand comfortably for long periods of time, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and still walks with a cane.

Blixt gave Hewitt a two-year deferred sentence and ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service.
