2-Day Women’s Self-Defense Series
Okay, so from a very young age I was taught how to take care of myself should I need to. It kind of comes with the territory of having a bad-ass cop for a dad and two older brothers who are bigger and stronger than you! lol
Three of the main things my dad taught me were:
- Don't be a victim. FIGHT!
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- You can't fight if you can't breathe...
So with that said, I am all about this 2-part Women's Self-Defense series that my buddies at Ridge Fitness are putting on! And honestly I couldn't think of two better self-defense instructors here in Missoula, than Matt Powers and my girl Rachel Plumage!
Let me break the classes down for you:
Class #1 - Basics Of Striking
When: Sunday, April 23rd
Where: Ridge Fitness
Time: 11AM - 1PM
Instructors: Rachel Plumage & Matt Powers
Class #2 - Basics Of Grappling
When: Sunday, April 30th
Where: Ridge Fitness
Time: 11AM - 1PM
Instructors: Rachel Plumage & Matt Powers
Each class is 2 hours long and FREE for all Ridge Fitness members! The only catch is that you MUST be a Ridge Fitness member to attend the class. But on the bright side, a gym membership to Ridge Fitness is $35 for a 12 month term or $70 for one month! And according to Thumbtack.com, the average cost of a self-defense class is $55 per class. So if you decide you want to join the Ridge Fitness family for only a month so you can take the self-defense classes, you'll still get access to their entire facility and other fitness classes they offer every day... like Rachel's kick-ass BoxCore class, which is what I go to!
So bringin' it back to what my dad taught me, taking a self-defense class is a step in the right direction for YOU to protect YOURSELF from becoming the victim! Knowledge is power!
