15th Annual Bike for Shelter More than Just a Fundraiser, It’s Tradition
The Watson Children's Shelter is hosting their 15th annual Bike for Shelter event Saturday, May 30, but the bike ride has become more than just a fundraiser—it's become a tradition.
Since 2000, families, children and people of all ages have helped kick-start summer with the popular Missoula charity event.
Thousands of dollars have been raised for the shelter over the past 15 years, and the organizers don't plan on stopping there. Watson Children's Shelter Development Director Alley Fontenot said beside the fundraising, Bike for Shelter has become a way to strengthen family relationships, With events like the bike rides, bike rodeo, carnival and lots of food, she said it's hard to not have fun, all while supporting their mission in helping children in crisis.
"It has not changed. In fact we added something new this year for the little toddlers, the Strider Bike Course," Watson Children's Shelter Development Director Alley Fontenot said. "There's really something for everybody so we encourage people to bring their families. Come on out and have a good time. Support Watson Children's Shelter. Because that's what it's all about."
