BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Wildlife officials say a woman survived a bear attack along the Yellowstone River near Emigrant after her dog intervened and chased the bear away.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1PbTscH ) Montana Fish, Wildlife and Park said in a news release that the woman was likely bit in the head during the Monday attack, but that none of her injuries were life-threatening. Officials also say the woman's dog appeared to have chased the bear away.

The woman had been walking her dog at the Point of Rocks Fishing Access Site when the incident occurred. The portion of the site where the attack took place has been closed.

The incident continues to be investigated.
