47 year-old Dawnette Eaton, the woman accused of running over police officer Deni Poling Monday night in an effort to escape arrest on a probation violation, appeared in Justice Court Wednesday afternoon.

Eaton was taken to the Missoula County jail early Wednesday morning after being treated for a gunshot wound at St. Patrick Hospital. She appeared in court with her arm in a sling.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks asked the judge to place Eaton back in the jail on $250,000 bail, saying 'she showed a complete disregard for human life' by running over officer Poling in an effort to escape.

Judge John Odlin agreed with the Deputy County Attorney in his assessment that Eaton was a flight risk, and due to the serious nature of the allegations, placed bail at $250,000.

According to the jail roster, the charges against Eaton at this time are felony failure to stop at an injury accident scene, and felony escape. Marks says interviews are underway with Missoula police officers to determine other charges to be filed later.

Officer Poling has already undergone several surgeries, and remains in the intensive care unit at St. Patrick Hospital. An account has been established on Poling's behalf at First Interstate Bank.
