Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 20, 2024, a Missoula Police Department Officer responded to the intersection of Higgins and Main St. to investigate a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash. The officer approached the motorcycle rider, John Doe, who stated he was scraped up but was ok.

Doe stated he and another motorcyclist were riding northbound on Higgins and were lane filtering at a red light south of the Higgins St. bridge. As they were filtering, a driver of a white Ford Flex flipped them off and started taking pictures of them. Doe stated the driver of the Flex, later identified as 41-year-old Xavier Xtravaganza, merged into his lane and hit him with his vehicle, causing Doe to lose control and crash.

The other motorcyclist stated that he and Doe were attempting to get away from Xtravaganza because Xtravaganza was driving aggressively towards them. He stated they had gotten away from Xtravaganza south of the bridge but Xtravaganza had sped up and had overtaken a couple of cars to catch them. It was after catching them that Xtravaganza collided with Doe.

The officer next spoke with an uninvolved male who stated he had been standing at the intersection when he witnessed the collision. He was adamant that Xtravaganza had turned into Doe, striking him and causing him to crash.

Then the officer spoke with Xtravaganza who stated the motorcyclists were cutting off vehicles and flipping them off. Xtravaganza stated that when they got close to his vehicle, he flipped them off back.

Xtravagnaza stated that Doe hit his driver’s side mirror with his hand causing it to fold forward. Xtravaganza said that when Doe hit the mirror with his hand, it caused Doe to lose control and swerve in front of his vehicle and onto the sidewalk where Doe crashed.

The officer observed a scratch and a dent on the front driver’s side fender of Xtravaganza’s car. Xtravaganza stated he was unaware of this damage and said that Doe must have hit his vehicle when he lost control.

The officer placed Xtravaganza under arrest and transported him to the Missoula County Detention Facility. Xtravaganza is currently being charged with felony criminal endangerment.
