The Missoula County Sheriff's Office has been investigating a series of burglaries in the Seeley Lake area, and has determined that the suspect has apparently left the area.

Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said on Tuesday, that residents in the Seeley and Salmon Lake area have been concerned for their safety and property.

"People have been terrorized by a burglar over the past six weeks," Pavalone said. "Deputies took reports of four different burglaries in the past few weeks, including thefts from homes and motor vehicles. A wide variety of things were stolen, from two guns, ammunition magazines and other weapons, in addition to jars of coins and rare coin collections."

Pavalone said the investigation has revealed that the alleged burglar has left the area.

"After the investigation and talking with a lot of people, they have determined the identity of the burglar, and that he has left town," she said. "In fact, it has been determined that the suspect has left the state of Montana altogether, so they want the people of the Seeley Lake area to know that they are seeking a warrant for the man's arrest. If anyone has information as to his whereabouts, to please contact the Missoula County Sheriff's Office at 258-4810."

Pavalone could not release the suspect's identity, but did say that he is a 20 year-old white male, and that he has left the state.

"Deputy Bob Parcell wanted people to rest assured and know that the situation is under control, and we're actively searching for the suspect," Pavalone said.
