Missoula police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who allegedly broke into, and heavily damaged, two ATM machines on Missoula's south side, taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

Detective Sergeant Travis Welsh said on Thursday, October 7, that the incidents occurred within a few hours of each other.

"Tuesday night at about 11 p.m. an unidentified subject broke into two ATM machines at two different locations in Missoula," Welsh said. "The locations were fairly close in proximity to each other."

Welsh said the suspect was heavily disguised to hide both his or her identity and gender.

"He's possibly a male," Welsh said. "The suspect was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and had the lower half of his or her face covered in an attempt to hide his or her identity."

Welsh said the suspect attached a cable to a maroon-colored 2005 to 2008 model Ford F-250 diesel pickup truck with dealer stickers in the front window, and basically ripped the doors off the ATM machines, making off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Missoula Crimestoppers at 721-4444.
