Missoula Police were called to the scene of a fender bender on Sunday, but in an odd twist the vehicle that had been rear-ended had fled the scene. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

"There was a complaint of possible injury by the party that had remained and witnesses who were able to describe the vehicle that left the scene state that it was being driven by a male and had turned into the parking lot of University Housing on South Avenue east of the intersection with Higgins," Welsh said.

Police caught up with the other vehicle after following eye-witness descriptions. They found it in the 1100 block of Coloma Drive, and what they found inside the car led to multiple charges.

"There had, in fact, been children in the car at the time of the collision and the male driver appeared to be intoxicated. He was eventually arrested for DUI and Criminal Child Endangerment and taken into custody," Welsh said. "The driver has been identified as 58-year-old Kenneth Burke

Though this is only Burke’s second DUI, because there were children in the car he is facing a felony charge of criminal endangerment on top of three traffic charges.
