The primary election is June 3, and the Missoula County Elections Center has opened for business at the Missoula County Fairgrounds.

Chief County Deputy for Elections Rebecca Connors said any voter can come to the elections center for assistance in the election process.

“If someone has made a mistake on their ballot they can come to the elections center and request a new one,” Connors said. “Anyone who wants a ballot before election day, they can come in and request an absentee ballot, and we can also do late registrations, so if you’re not registered to vote, or if your address has changed, you can come here and get a ballot.”

For those who have made a mistake on their ballot, Connors said they can bring the ballot into the elections center for a new one, however, once the absentee ballot is placed in the mail it cannot be changed.

“The statute says, that once our office has received and accepted that ballot, then it has been processed,” Connors said. “So, it’s just the same as  if you went to your polling place and submitted your ballot through the M-100 scanner, once your ballot has been received by our office, it cannot be changed. So, make sure you have your ballot filled out correctly before you mail it in.”

Connors said no absentee ballots are counted until election day, no matter how soon they are received by the elections office.

The Elections Center is offering extended hours: 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st and Wednesday, May 28th and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31st. The regular hours of operation are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If voters have questions or need more information, they can visit the Missoula Votes website for more information or call the Elections Office at (406) 258-4751.
