Four men, three with aluminum baseball bats, attacked and robbed a convenience store on 39th Street in Missoula behind the Village Six Theater early Tuesday morning.

Missoula police detective sergeant Travis Welsh says four men dressed in black hoodies pulled up over their heads entered the store at about 4 a.m. Three of the men were carrying aluminum baseball bats and began beating the clerk, then took an undisclosed amount of cash, by stealing the entire cash drawer.

The clerk was transported to St. Patrick Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The extent of how badly he was hurt was not released.

Welsh says the four men escaped on foot headed north.

Missoula police are asking anyone with information to contact detective Mark Blood at the Missoula Police Department at 552-6300, or Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
