An assessment of invasive species management says a lack of funding is a big challenge.

The Montana Invasive Species Advisory Council is reviewing the threat posed to Montana's environment by noxious weeds and other unwanted biological invaders.

According to the Helena Independent Record, the group hopes to have a plan by the end of this year.

The report also focuses on early detection and a rapid response, and coming up with a system to prioritize and offer incentives to private landowners if they join the crusade.
