Big Sky High School yesterday announced the appointment of the next head boys’ basketball coach.

Ty Solberg will be assuming the position as the interim head coach for the 2011-2012 basketball season.

Solberg brings with him many years of coaching experience at many different levels in basketball and in golf. He currently teaches 8th grade at C.S. Porter Middle School and has for the past seven years.

Solberg graduated from Fergus High School in 1999 and from the University of Montana in 2003.  He is also working on his graduate degree from the University of Montana with a master’s in educational leadership.

For those players, parents or community members interested in meeting Solberg, the high school will host an informational “meet and greet” on Tuesday, July 5, at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium.  Solberg will be available to discuss his plans for the program and its direction, as well as plans for the month of July when the MHSA coaching rule restriction is suspended.
