4 Best Made in Montana Fly Fishing Products

This past weekend, Missoula was host to the Orvis Guide Rendezvous Show. This show included both Montana-based companies and companies based outside of Montana, all of which cater to fly fishing in some aspect or another. Pretty much any and every kind of company that can be associated with fly fishing was there, from raft frame makers to cooler manufacturers and drift boat manufacturers to anchor companies.

The great thing about this show was that it wasn’t just for guides, it was open to the public too, and might I say that there was a terrific public turnout. It could be because Montana has some of the best fly fishing in the world.

Here are some of the best Montana made products from the show.

Rod Dog

This custom made rod holder was the hit of the show. Made just minutes outside of Missoula by Montana Raft Frames, the Rod Dog is the answer to a raft owning fly fisherman’s prayers. This rod holder can be attached to your current raft frame and allows you to keep two extra rods strung up and ready to go at a moment’s notice.

Located just outside of Missoula city limits, Montana Raft Frames custom makes every frame to fit your specific boat. They also offer a fully enclosed anchor system and their frames can be fully broken down for ease of shipping or transport. Montana Raft Frames was also sporting their brand new Dog Deck, a special platform specifically made so man’s best friend can enjoy man’s favorite sport with him.

Green Anchor

Just a short drive down to the Bitterroot will lead you to the home of this environmentally friendly anchor company. This green company’s goal is to help stop the deposits of lead that are left in Montana’s waters. They do this by encasing lead anchors in steel, so the lead anchor can’t erode over time and with frequent use.

This Montana company can be found a couple hours down the road in Helena. The guys who run this company are not only experts at making drift boats, but are also guides themselves, so they know what it takes to make the perfect drift boat. They never stop trying to build a better drift boat.
