Just after 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, a Missoula Police Department officer stopped a vehicle and recognized an adult female. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“An officer encountered a vehicle that was occupied by an adult female,” Welsh said. “He had prior knowledge that she had an outstanding warrant from the state of Washington. The warrant was for drug possession and theft of a firearm. The officer located the vehicle near the intersection of Russell and Broadway and initiated a traffic stop when it turned westbound on Mullan Road.”

According to Welsh, the officer eventually made contact with the female and identified her as 29-year-old Colleen Owens.

“Owens was arrested for her outstanding warrant from Washington,” Welsh said. “She was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. Correction officers discovered that she was in possession of a small amount of, what was later determined to be, heroin.”

As a result, Owens is now being held for her outstanding warrant and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
