Woman Found Unconscious on a Road After Being Assaulted
An unidentified woman lies unconscious in a local hospital after being beaten and left on a road over the weekend, and Missoula County sheriff’s deputies are looking for clues as to how she was so badly injured, and who may be responsible.
Detective Lieutenant Robert Kennedy said the woman was discovered by a passerby on Saturday.
“This assault was actually reported on Saturday night,” began Kennedy. “The female was found by a jogger on Coal Mine Road (near the Missoula landfill). She was just lying in the middle of the road. He discovered that she was semi-conscious and he called 9-1-1 and medical transported her to St. Patrick Hospital.”
Kennedy said detectives examined the scene looking for clues as to what may have happened to the Caucasian female thought to be in her 40’s.
“Once detectives got on scene, they were able to determine that her injuries were significant and were related to an assault,” he said. “She has not regained consciousness. It appears the injuries that she sustained on her head were caused by some sort of blunt object.”
Detectives are asking anyone who may have any information about this assault to contact the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office at 258-4810.
