Woman Charged With Assault for Hitting Multiple Minors With a Phone Cord
At around 5:20 p.m. on Friday, Missoula Police Officers responded to a disturbance at the California Street Footbridge that involved an adult female and several juvenile males. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“An officer made contact with the males in the 900 block of Cregg Lane,” Welsh said. “They explained to him that a woman on the bridge had assaulted each of them with what they described as a phone charging cord. They then proceeded to show the officer the injuries they sustained, which consisted of marks on their bodies that were consistent with a cord about the shape and diameter that they described.”
The juveniles had a blurry photo of a female they described as being the suspect. They also showed the officer a photo of a blue Saturn car and the car’s license plate was clearly visible. They said that was the vehicle the suspect left in.
“A short time after that contact, the suspect was seen in a vehicle passing by very slowly at that location,” Welsh said. “Another officer stopped that vehicle and identified the suspect as 35-year-old Georgena Oldperson. Oldperson was placed under arrest based on statements and evidence at the scene. She was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.”
Oldperson was charged with three counts of felony assault on a minor and one count of misdemeanor assault. Three of the juveniles were under the age of 14 and one was 14-years-old.
