A winter farmer’s market is weaving its way into Missoula culture. Usually the farmer’s market runs from April through the end of October, but board member Eric Winegart says Missoulian market goers don’t have to stop shopping then.

"Most of the vendors are people that have been at different farmer's markets throughout town for the summers and they've gotten together and decided let's do something for the winter," Winegart said. "It's quite a hardship for a lot of the farmers and ranchers that go six months without any income from their products, or very little. So this helps them get out there and keep it going."

Winegart said a lot of the fresh produce will come from greenhouses in the winter such carrots, lettuce, and onions.

"It's going to be at the old Pro-Build UBC Building on Third Street. I believe it's 800 South Third (map)," Winegart said. "Right now it's 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. but we might be changing to a 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. format next week, but we'll let people know."

Winegart said if vendors are interested in selling at the winter farmer’s market, contact him at 777-0709.
