Western Montana Fair: Get Ready for Horseplay and Rodeo Thrills

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Western Montana Fair will be the premier summer attraction in Missoula, so I reached out to Billie Brown, Events and Operations Manager for the fair, for a preview in which horses will play a prominent role.

“It's funny that you should bring up horses because that's going to be a big part of the fair this year, August 5 through the 10th,” began Brown. “We are introducing three times the free entertainment, and one of those new areas that will have free entertainment is the Clouse Bauer Arena, where we will have horse activities every hour from Tuesday to Saturday.”

Brown pointed out another opportunity to enjoy horses at the fair.

“In addition to the Horse Connection Zone, as we're calling it, we're also adding another community stage,” she said. “We've had one Community Plaza experience during the fair, and now we're adding a second one just adjacent from the Fairway Plaza and it'll have a roof and it'll be elevated, and I'll have lights, and that's where we're going to have our live music, and the horse connection zone.”

Brown went on with more special events at the Western Montana Fair coming up in August.

The Fair will Feature PRCA Rodeo and Lots of Live Music

“We will be having five nights of PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) rodeo Tuesday through Saturday,” she said. “We'll open up on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. with Extreme Bulls. We will follow that with our rough stock only performance on Wednesday night, called Bulls, Broncs and Busters, and we'll also be adding some youth events to that evening, with junior barrel racing, junior steer riding, and the Mutton Busting, which was a big hit last year.”

Brown was careful to advise everyone to get their rodeo and racing tickets at the approved website, due to attempts by some to sell fraudulent, unapproved tickets.

“Be careful when you're buying your tickets,” she said. “You definitely want to make sure that you either come into the fair office or go to WesternMontanaFair.com, because it is very easy for websites to look official as they attempt to sell you tickets; however, nowhere else besides Western Montana Fair dot com can you get the tickets. We just don't want anybody to be disappointed come the time of the fair, and they wanted to go to the rodeo or the racing, and they found out that they have a ticket that might not be valid.”

Brown said there will be concessions, the beer garden, and lots of music throughout the fair.
