Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 6, 2024, a Missoula Police Department officer was patrolling around Great Northern Blvd. when he recognized a female, 26-year-old Stephanie Haygood, from previous interactions. The officer recalled that Haygood had arrest warrants, which he then confirmed. The officer made contact with Haygood and informed her of her warrants.

Haygood was placed under arrest and seemed to be trying to displace herself from the bag she was carrying. The officer placed Haygood’s bag in his patrol car for transport to the jail. Once Haygood was remanded to the custody of the jail, the officer was informed that the jail would not accept Haygood’s bag.

Then the officer transported the bag back to the police station, where he conducted an inventory search. During the search, officers located a syringe that appeared to be nearly full of a clear liquid, consistent with methamphetamine. The officer then stopped the search and applied for a search warrant, which was granted.

Officers then located a clear glass pipe with a bulbous end that contained white and brown residue. The pipe appeared to be consistent with drug paraphernalia. Officers further located two cut and clamped sections of a steel straw with burnt residue and ends consistent with those used to inhale dangerous drugs.

Officers also located another syringe with approximately 5 units of a reddish liquid; which based on the officer’s training and experience, they recognized as blood drawn up into a syringe during a previous use. An officer conducted a TruNarc of the liquid in the syringe, which yielded a presumptive positive for Hexanoyl Fentanyl.

Haygood is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $10,000.
