Wanted Man Admits to Having Meth in Missoula

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On November 24, 2024, a deputy with the Missoula County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report that an individual with an active warrant was at a gas station located in the 8700 block of US-93. The caller reported that the individual was 52-year-old Neil Cyganowski. Deputies located Cyganowski in a green Ford Taurus, which matched the description of the vehicle provided to him.

The Deputies approached the car and Cyganowski positively identified himself. The Deputies asked Cyganowski to step out of the car and advised that he was under arrest pursuant to the warrant.

A deputy conducted a search incident to arrest, and Cyganowski told him that he had a “crack pipe” on his person. The deputy located the pipe, as well as a small plastic container that contained a white crystalline substance.

According to court documents, the deputy asked Cyganowski what the substance was, and Cyganowski stated, “It’s for the pipe.” Based on his training and experience, the deputy believed the substance to be methamphetamine. Then Cyganowski was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.

A deputy transported the evidence to the evidence warehouse. The white crystalline substance was tested with an ACE-ID and tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine. The suspected methamphetamine weighed 7.3 grams in its container and will be sent to the State crime lab for further testing.

Cyganowski is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
