At the FCS Awards banquet in Frisco, Texas on Friday night, University of Montana linebacker Dante Olson was named the Buck Buchanan Award winner as the top defensive player in the nation.

Olson was a finalist in 2018, placing third in the balloting.
In 2019, Olson had a multi record-breaking year, according to Gogriz.com, the official University of Montana sports website, and here are the awards that Olson has garnered in 2019 alone.

Broke the Montana school record he set as a junior (151)

 Became Montana's all-time leading tackler with 397 career stops, breaking Vince Huntsberger's 2001 record of 393.

 Posted double-digit tackle totals in 10 of Montana’s 14 games

 Had a season-high 18 tackles in two games, Posted game-high 14 tackles (10 solo) against Oregon Ducks
