UM’s Brantly Hall Really is Haunted and You Can See for Yourself

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Yes, the University of Montana’s Brantly Hall really is haunted, according to Millie Bearleggins, chapter president of the UM American Indigenous Business Leaders, and you can experience the tour for yourself over the next two weekends.

KGVO News spoke to Millie Bearleggins on Tuesday afternoon, who shared her own personal experience with the mysterious Brantly Hall ghost.

“It was during the very beginning stages of the campus being built, and sad to say that the student had actually committed suicide in that building,” began Bearleggins. “Ever since then there have been claims of people that have worked in there or have even visited that building and I myself have actually seen the apparition of that person.”

Testimony from an Eyewitness

Bearleggins described her first up close and personal experience with the Brantly Hall apparition.

“Just last year when we ran this (Haunted House), I was also president (of the AIBL) then and it was the first time we had come back after the pandemic, and so it was the first time we had it in a while,” she said. “So the first night we were there, we were setting up our decorations and there were only two of us in there. I remember my friend had left the office where I was and I thought she came back in, I was handing her tape, and the person I was handing tape to grab it, and I could hear them moving, and when I turned around, there was nobody there.”

Yes, there really appears to be a Ghost in Brantly Hall

Bearleggins said she and her sister also encountered the ghost last year.

“On the very last day that we had our haunted house last year, I had my little sister with me,” she said. “She was six at the time and she swore she saw this woman standing at the end of the hall with her dress, telling her to go with her to go to her room so she could show her something. My sister was telling me, hey, there's somebody down there. Can I go with her? And I told my sister ‘no, you can't’ like there's nobody there. As we were leaving she turned around and said, ‘Look, she's standing right here’. And when we turned around and looked we could actually see her legs and the bottom part of an old white dress.”

Bearleggins provided more information about the haunted house tour itself.

“Starting this Friday we will open our doors at seven o'clock, so it's this Friday and Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and then the following weekend on the 28th and 29th from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m," she said.

The cost for the tour is $5 per person, $8 per couple, and $30 for groups of five to seven people. The event is cash only.
