Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 31, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Missoula Police Department officers were conducting patrol shifts near the area of 1151 West Broadway. This property is the former location of Imagine Nation Brewing Company. From previous experience, an officer was aware that the owners had previously requested that individuals be removed from the property and that they posted "No Trespassing" signs around the property.

Officers approached a male who appeared to be sleeping on the property directly next to a sign that read "No Trespassing Private Property." The male was later identified as 19-year-old Richard Windyboy. The officer was advised that Windyboy had an appearance warrant out of Missoula Municipal Court, and that a judge was available to see him.

Officers placed Windyboy under arrest. As they each grabbed an arm of Windyboy, he tensed up his arms and began tucking them in towards his stomach. In fear that Windyboy was attempting to grab a weapon, an officer pried Windyboy's right arm behind him and informed him not to resist.

Windyboy Continues to Resist

As Windyboy was escorted to a patrol vehicle, he began reaching into his right pocket. When the officer grabbed hold of Windyboy's hands, Windyboy would not let go of what he was holding onto. Again, fearing that Windyboy was attempting to grab a weapon, the officer grabbed hold of several fingers and pried them backward until Windyboy eventually let go.

Once at the patrol vehicle, the officer conducted a search incident to arrest. The officer located a large butcher knife on Windyboy's person that was hidden on the left side of Windyboy's jacket pocket. The officer also located a cigarette box on the left side of Windyboy's breast pocket. The officer immediately observed a glass cylindrical pipe with white residue sticking out of the box. A search of the cigarette box revealed two plastic baggies that contained methamphetamine.
