Top 6 Colleges In Montana Ranked By WalletHub, #1 is Shocking
We all remember college, don't we? There were few concerns in the world and my number one priority was to have fun. That's how it was for me at least. Minimum studying, probably too much partying and a whole lot of wasted time.
Ah, the good ole days.
The personal finance website WalletHub delved into "the best colleges and universities in Montana."
WalletHub looked at a list of factors to determine the rankings.
- Admission Rates
- Net Costs to Attend
- Student-Faculty Ratio
- On-Campus Crime
- Gender & Racial Diversity
- Graduation Rates
- Post-Attendance Median Salary
The list didn't do any favors for the University of Montana in Missoula. Before we get to the overall list, here's a list of the "top party schools" in Montana according to niche.com

Okay, school is, against popular belief, more than just partying so here is WalletHub's list of "Best Colleges and Universities in Montana."
- Carroll College (Helena)
- Montana State University (Bozeman)
- Montana Tech University (Butte)
- Rocky Mountain College (Billings)
- University of Providence (Great Falls)
- University of Montana (Missoula)
Oh boy... not a good showing for the Griz. The University of Montana came in at number 673 in the country, which places it in the bottom fourth in the entire nation.
Carroll ranked #285, came in as the best school in the Treasure State thanks to first-place finishes in graduate rates and post-attendance median salaries. Carroll also finished second in the student-faculty ratio. A little surprising, at least when you think of the popularity of Missoula and Bozeman's Universities.
Montana State ranked first in admission rates and second in on-campus crimes and graduation rates.
Do the numbers tell the truth? Is Carroll the best? Is Missoula 6th?
