Three Arrested for Megaload Protest in Missoula

Three women were arrested just after midnight on Friday, March 14, as they sat in the road blocking the progress of a shipment of equipment bound for the oil fields in Canada.

Sergeant Travis Welsh, Public Information Officer with the Missoula Police Department said the three were arrested near the intersection of Reserve and South Avenue.

"At about 12:06 a.m. three females were arrested for disorderly conduct and failure to disperse from a demonstration, after they positioned themselves in front of the megaload transport, and refused to move, resulting in their arrest," Welsh said. "They were transported to the jail, where they were booked in."

The three were booked and released from the Missoula County Jail, and will appear in municipal court to face the misdemeanor charges.

The three, identified by our news partners at NBC Montana-KECI-TV, are Carol Marsh, Debbie Florence and Gail Gilman. This is at least the second arrest for Marsh, 71.

The megaload rig from Omega-Morgan Transport is in Bonner on Friday, and will depart on its continuing journey up to the oil fields in Canada.

Welsh said no one was injured during the arrest.
