Montana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen accepted a $47.1 million check on Monday from Governor Greg Gianforte and other members of the State Land Board to help fund public education in Montana.

State trust lands are managed by the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Trust Lands Management Division.

State Auditor and Insurance Commissioner Candidate Troy Downing appeared on the KGVO Talk Back program on Monday, and stressed the importance of that office holder having a spot on the State Land Board.

The State Land Board will meet on Friday to discuss another coal lease, but the meetings date change has some groups frustrated.
